New Century Technology High School (NCTHS), the only full magnet high school in Huntsville City Schools, is redefining excellence in STEM education. With a mission to cultivate a diverse, inclusive, and academically challenging environment, NCTHS is dedicated to preparing students for leadership in the rapidly evolving global STEM workforce. Plus, for Cove students, NCTHS is an option that should not go overlooked.
Beyond the classroom, NCTHS offers students unique access to industry through internships with regional companies and ongoing mentorships with professionals in their chosen fields. NCTHS boasts a 100% graduation rate and a 100% College and Career Readiness Indicator Rate (CCRI), demonstrating its commitment to student achievement and post-secondary preparation. The school offers 22 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, enabling students to earn college credit while still in high school. In addition, more than 30 students have been recognized as published authors—an extraordinary testament to the school's emphasis on communication and scholarship across disciplines. NCTHS’s excellence has not gone unnoticed. It has earned national recognition as a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School, was certified as a National Magnet School in 2023, and was named a CLAS Banner School of Distinction in 2024.
Outside of academics, NCTHS fosters well-rounded development through a wide array of clubs and extracurricular activities. Students can participate in organizations like Women in STEM, Robotics, Cyber Patriots, Student Government Association (SGA), Ultimate Frisbee, Beta Club, National Honor Society, and STEM Honor Society. These groups promote leadership, collaboration, and personal growth, enriching the high school experience and strengthening the sense of community.
With a clear vision and unwavering dedication to student success, New Century Technology High School stands as a model for what STEM education can and should be. It is more than a school—it is a launchpad for the next generation of scientists, engineers, innovators, and leaders. And, for kids in the Cove, it's a solid option. Of the 400+ students at the school, almost a quarter come from the Cove area of Huntsville.
