Earlier this month, Cove resident Bjoern Lanwer met with Mayor Tommy Battle, Director of City Engineering Kathy Martin, and Project Engineer Alan Clements to discuss the Cecil Ashburn / Sutton Road corridor project. The city desires to establish a formal, continuing dialogue with representatives of the Cove. GrowCove, initially formed a couple of years ago, is hoping to further its efforts to better address community issues that affect Big Cove, Brownsboro, Hampton Cove, and the surrounding community. Discussion concerning the Cecil Ashburn project, however, will not be the only purpose of the group. GrowCove intends to represent the interests of our area now and in the future as we embark in efforts to guide growth and engender smart development in the Cove area in a fiscally responsible and sustainable manner, in coordination with both the City of Huntsville and Madison County. GrowCove is a diverse group that represents various needs not only of Cove residents and businesses, but also of visitors to the Cove, be they from over the mountain or across the country. The first meeting regarding Cecil Ashburn will be later this month.
